This project is directed on development of the interaction among media organizations and wide spectrum of information users. Unfortunately, today the role of media frequently undervalued. Considerable part of the information users distrust information, disseminated by the media, although, mass media plays one of the most important roles in forming democracy.

WARSAW/STRASBOURG, 27 August 2008 - The OSCE's Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR) and the Venice Commission of the Council of Europe today expressed their disappointment at the signing into law of amendments to Kyrgyzstan's freedom-of-assembly law. The amended law was signed by President Kurmanbek Bakiev on 6 August.

Due to the closure of my authorities, I want to express to all those people, with whom I worked, studied and rendered aid, my gratitude  for their support, collaboration and mutual understanding.

A new law has nullified attempts to turn the state television and radio company in Kyrgyzstan into a public-service broadcaster, and takes the country back to a situation where the president has too much power over the media, say critics of the bill.

Objections centre on the use of criminal rather than civil legislation, and fears that the real motive is political. The handling of a libel suit against a major newspaper in Kyrgyzstan has led to accusations that the authorities are mounting an orchestrated attack on press freedom.
