The key factor for the solid development of the KR’s mass media is a detailed media policy tailored to the needs of the market. This media policy would build a foundation for a varied and sustainable spectrum of mass media, serving the country’s population and providing information on ongoing events. In our country policy most often reflects the interests of those close to power; it is critical to consider the interests of the other sectors of our society which are directly affected by the media.

To this end MCI initiated the creation of the Public Chamber of Mass Media in the Kyrgyz Republic. The Public Chamber of Mass Media is focusing on the active participation and representation of wider interests of society in media policy. The Public Chamber of Mass Media was created with the understanding that reasonable policy in the area of mass media leads to the formation of a wide spectrum of opinions and provides a higher caliber of information to the citizens of the Kyrgyz Republic.

The Public Chamber unifies a group of highly regarded, progressive people with sophisticated views ready to find rational solutions representing the interests of society rather than the those of their organizations or employers.
