The Media Commissioner Institute protects the interests of journalists, mass media and their representatives before the judicial bodies of the Kyrgyz Republic. Within this activity the MRI lawyers carry out a full set of activities from low-level courts up to the Supreme Court of the Kyrgyz Republic until the end of the case. The MRI lawyers will also file appeals as necessary. Assistance to mass media on protection of their rights is provided both in Kyrgyz and Russian. To reduce the number of court actions against mass media and journalists, the Media Commissioner Institute carries out due diligence work mass media content, such as potentially liable articles or programs.
